guildy pleasures . . .

Do you struggle to come up with clever (or at least somewhat clever) post titles?  I do.  I'm pretty sure I've used this one before, but I couldn't find it after 2016, so it can be recycled.  LOL!

Thursday's guild meeting was our big end-of-year party.  It's also the guild's birthday, hence the theme:
We had a nice crowd for the evening, which was happy to see!

I think I shared this quilt back in April (after I completed the binding) . . .
Here it is being presented to our outgoing president!  I think that's one of the coolest thing our guild does, honoring the outgoing president with a quilt created by her board members and sometimes other guild members.  This one was a fun, quirky quilt, that matched the personality of its new owner!

Here's the outgoing board.  I'm towards the back on the far left.  (I have a thing for the back row!)
I have to admit, as much as I enjoy serving on our guild's board, these last two years have been tough and I'm glad it's over!

I also have to show you this . . .
Isn't it just PRECIOUS??!

One of the gals in my stitcher's group did the monogramming for me (aka, for Jocelyn).  She did a fabulous job!  I still need to re-top stitch the case, but I think Jocelyn will be so pleased!!

feeling sketchy . . .

I like to doodle and draw and sketch.  I'm not a great artist (by any stretch of the imagination), but I do enjoy taking pencil to paper and sketching things out.  After finishing up the bike and the squirrel stitcheries (which, let me be clear, were transfers I purchased), I decided I wanted some more autumn-ish designs to stitch out.

So I started scribbling . . .
My struggle in converting a 'doodle' to a pattern for a stitchery is that I have a hard time with clean lines! But it was fun to spend time on them and I feel confident that one or two of them will definitely find their way to cloth. In particular, the lone pumpkin caught my further interest.  I figured it I opened it up a bit, I could maybe add a monogram . . .
Wouldn't it be a cute stitchery on a white cotton shirt?? Edith Rose needs a sweet little fall tee-shirt.  And what if I did a little crayon tinting to it?
Oh yeah.  That's the ticket!  I'll do one of these for all three of the little girls (and only have to change the "R" each time)--Joc has already purchased the shirts!!

I guess sometimes sketchiness pays off!

out of hiding . . .

Have mercy . . . for the first time in our nineteen years of marriage, Todd and I were both sick at the same time.  And not just "have a sniffle" sick, but miserable, can't get out of bed sick!  BLAH!  Poor Todd, just when he should have been getting over whatever that virus was (that pretty much made its way though all three of our families), he came down with strep.  My fellow was not a happy camper.

Needless to say, we've neither of us been doing a whole lot!  I missed going on our ladies' retreat to Pigeon Forge.  Boooo!!  But I got better in time to attend a guild committee meeting at the home of one of the members -- on Lake Guntersville.  The meeting day was beautiful and we had lunch out on the back deck.  What a view!!
I can't be too jealous, though, not when this is in my back yard!!
I can't wait until the weather is right for toe dipping and splashing!

I haven't been in the Nook . . . but I have been doing some stitching on a dear little dolly's dress:
Last night I finished the center petal.  Now all I need to do is a little stitching on the petals on either side of the center monogram.
They're marked and ready to go.  That's my WOW!!  Linking on up to Esther Aliu's blog.

Turtles have been coming out of hibernation, but we had yet to see any of the baby turtles.
That is, until yesterday!  Isn't he teeny-tiny and precious??! I hope we see more!

And finally, I treated myself to an early Mother's Day gift . . .
I couldn't pass this little book up and I'm so glad I didn't . . . it's filled with wonderful recipes.  Can't wait to try some!

Hope the rest of your week is filled with happy things that make you smile!

a different tune . . .

I wasn't sure how today's stash report was going to play. I *finally* finished quilting the commemorative block and got the binding on it. It's now hanging in the mini-stand!
I'd already counted that out in stash usage, so that sweet little finish wasn't going to change my report. But I was also able to get in some glorious time in the ol' Nook. I got all my HST's trimmed and stitched up the four green blocks for Lil' Charmer.
I also played around with it in EQ and added a substantial border to it, so I could do some fun hand quilting in it with my variegated rainbow thread.
I thought I'd get a lot further and have the whole top pieced by the end of the day (which would make a substantial difference to my stash report), but by lunch time, I knew that wasn't going to happen. When I took a lunch/potty/FB break, I stumbled on a darling little Easter craft and saw the promise of instant gratification, so I printed out the template and headed back to the nook.
It didn't take me long to find the perfect fabric and put one together! And so that's how I spent the rest of the afternoon . . .
Bunny Sachets! (Or pattern weights -- right??!) Aren't they darling?  You can make your own . . . the free pattern and tutorial is here!  And those are what kept the title of this post from being "broken record".  Because the five of them used about a fat quarter's worth of material! So here's my stash report for this week . . .
Finally.  A little something happening! I know it's not much, but at least it's not much in the right direction.  :)

And last, but not least, I do have a little something new to be working on for some slow Sunday stitching.  Joc ordered matching dresses for the girls . . .
She ordered the blue -- but they have plain collars like the pink -- only she wants them embroidered similarly to the blue. LOL! So I worked up a little custom monogram design . . .
It's a go -- that oughta keep me busy for a couple of Sundays! Linking up with Patchwork Times and Kathy's Quilts.

It's cold, but sunny and beautiful, today.  I'll take it!  Y'all enjoy your Sunday!
