winging its way . . .

Spring, that is.  To the interior of the RV, that is.

Besides all the crafty little projects that got my attention this past weekend, I also [finally] felt compelled to remove the reds and pinks and hearts and put out the "SPRING"! So, for your viewing pleasure (hahaha!), here are my little Spring vignettes . . .
I got the eggs ... they're multiplying ... and I'm losing control!

I adore that yellow fluted vase.  It was my Grandma Willie's (and it's older than me).

This may be one of my very favorite wool pieces, ever.

Those Easter eggs are REAL eggs that I blew and decorated 15 years ago!
I did a dozen and Joc did one.  There are five of mine and Joc's one, left. They're almost vintage.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. Which is which?!
Wednesday I woke up feeling not-so-great. A quick trip to the doc revealed a case of bronchitis. Nice. Thank you spring allergies. Ah well, a dose of steroids and antibiotics and we'll clear it all up. Hopefully I'm miraculously all better tomorrow.  I'm watching these sweet girls on Friday and Saturday . . .
Aren't they precious? This photo was taken during the family maternity shoot. Baby Merkel is due in the next three weeks or so!
Isn't Baby Merkel's mommy just beautiful? She's glowingly gorgeous!

Time with the Merkel girls means time with the Merkel cat.
Oh Leia, how I've missed you! She almost looks sweet and cuddly in this photo, doesn't she? We'll see just how sweet and cuddly she is come Saturday afternoon.

And with that, I bid you happy Friday, happy weekend!  (and Happy Feline Friday!)

bunnies and wattles . . .

This past week was rather topsy-turvy.  Todd's dad had heart surgery on Friday and there were a lot of pre-surgery appointments leading up to that and of course, Friday was spent in the cardiac waiting room.  His surgery went well but he's still in ICU for the time being.  Needless to say, there was a LOT of waiting time during which I stitched.  And stitched and stitched and stitched!  (Except for the fifteen minutes I spent on my knees, picking up tiny yellow seed beads off the floor of my car. UGH!)

So, the two projects I started on Monday, filled my entire week . . .
And the nice thing about that is, I have two finishes!
"Wattle" stitchery.
Bunny Candle Mat. I'm not sure which I like most!  But I do know I will probably (most certainly) make two more Bunny Mats before Easter, if you get my drift!

I got the loveliest package in the mail yesterday, too . . .
Is that fun, or what??!  It was the perfect *happy* on National Quilting Day!  It's a 'follow-up' to Jean's first package!  Does she know me?!  Haha!!

That fabric made me SMILE!  And it also -- along with two yards of Kona black I purchased for the Pineapple Quilt -- increased my stash!
It's starting to creep out of control!  I need to have a big finish here soon!

I printed out my Irish Blessing last night and will do some stitching on that, between church and the hospital. Linking up to Patchwork Times and Kathy's Quilts: Slow Sunday Stitching.  Have a happy Sunday!

wonderful wednesdays . . .

Today is a happy day . . . today marks FOUR YEARS that Sawyer Graham has been a force to reckon with in this ol' world!
He's king of the hill . . . but also holds great sway over this Neesey's heart!  ♥

We celebrated our March birthdays on Saturday. Sawyer wanted a "dinosaur and snake" cake.  Yup, he's all boy.
Luckily, he's got a very talented mommy who was able to create just what the birthday boy asked for!

Blowing out candles was fun . . .
Even though he *was* holding is ears because we were all singing too loud! Ha! That's rich, I know! Ellie is there just in case he needed some help.  :)

I think his favorite present of the evening may have been . . .
The pirate costume!  He had to put it on pronto, and you can just see he's beaming!  Sweet little swashbuckling boy! Happy birthday, Sawyer!!  (And a happy birthday shout out to my niece, Alison, who was gracious enough to share her day with Sawyer -- only she's turning fifteen!)

Ellie and I had a lovely day together, yesterday.  The weather was so gorgeous, we spent most of her awake time out in in . . .
Sweet and sassy!

I had gotten a lovely package from Jean over at Jean Creates.  She sent me a pile of books . . .
You see the theme of most of them??  Right up my crazy alley!

There was also this darling tea-themed wall hanging pattern . . .

And fabric!
A lot of *purple* fabrics!!!  Such a sweet and thoughtful package! So I had asked her what I could send her in return and when she replied, "A mug rug," my wheels started churning.  And this is what I sent her . . .
I had such fun creating this little piece!!  So there's the mystery mug rug!

And what I'm working on now?
I got the bunny mat cut out and glue basted.  Now I've whip stitched the leaves and the bunnies down.  Still have the flowers and their centers to whip stitch and then I can begin the decorative embroidery.

And I got my 'waffle' piece started . . .
A couple more leaves to fishbone stitch and then some feather stitching and I'll be able to start adding beads. I had a crazy thought when it comes to this piece . . . how fun it would be to create it Andy Warhol style. Hmmmm.  More on that later.

Spring is springing up at the camp . . .
Unfortunately, temps are dropping as I type and we've got a last blast of winter weather heading our way. Hope my daffodils can weather the weather!

wall o' possibilities . . .

There are a couple of things I plan on working on this week . . . once I've gotten my bunk room tidied up, that is.  I came home from retreat sick, so things never quite got put back where they're supposed to be. Ugh.  I can definitely feel that the lack of order is stifling my desire to DO!

I found this darling fabric I'd purchased at the beginning of the year . . .
All People Quilt had a darling carrot table runner/topper pattern that I'd like to modify and use this for (solid top instead of stripped, with the quilting making the horizontal lines). I've got enough to do one for both sets of grandchildren!

And I'll work on my 'wattle' embroidery . . . I don't have variegated green floss, so I may make a trip into town today to pick some up.
Or maybe I'll do that tomorrow on my way home from Ellie's.

And I have some wool that I'm anxious to work with . . . two things there.  The first is the flora around the Irish blessing and the second is a darling bunny candle mat.  Similar to this one . . .
This is my sister's darling mat -- isn't it precious??!  I just love the sweet little bunnies!  I'm thinking Ellie would probably enjoy stitching on this with me.

That should keep me busy enough this week.  Linking up to the Design Wall Monday post at Patchwork Times!  Be sure to stop by and check out all the marvelous creativity going on 'round the quilting blogging world!
