Slow stitching is appropriate. It feels like it took me *forever* to finish this piece, but finished it is!
I had to take some "staging" pics, too . . .
Heh. So I'm a stitcher, not a photographer. I think one of the reasons I took so much time is that this really was a new style of stitching for me. I'm still not sure if I'd choose to do it again. I like the dimensional aspect of it — but it's all big stitches with six strands of floss ... no delicate stitching for detail. Though I do love the French knots!
On another note, I got a stack of happy in the mail this week:
Meet Moda's Arboretum. Isn't it yummy?!?? I'm thinking I'll use it in Diane Knott's (Butterfly Threads) mystery block of the month quilt!
For today's slow stitching, I think I'll play around with these . . .
Fun EPP shapes, don't you think? They make cute hearts.
Right? I don't know what I'll do with them, but I have the desire to stitch up some hexie-like things, so that's how I'll roll.
Warning. This next photo is not for the feint of heart. Travesty of all travesties.
You can't have nuthin.
Not sure what happened to Mr. Pumpkin, but when you hang with foxes, deer, possums, raccoons and who know what else, this is to be expected. *sigh* ;)
Enjoy the remainder of your Labor Day weekend! We're taking off on the boat with the kids tomorrow to enjoy the day on the lake. Yay!
Linking up to Kathy's Quilts and the Slow Sunday Stitching post!

The embroidered flowers turned out lovely! I too prefer less strands when hand embroidering, however once in a while not having to split the thread makes the stitching goes faster. The chunky look in your project looks beautiful! Enjoy your new fabric, and have fun with EPP! PS: bummer about the pumpkin.
And what a wonderful finish it is. Your embroidered flowers look beautiful. Isn't it fun to play with EPP's.
Nice job on the embroidery! So pretty! Yes, those are really good shapes, lots of potential there!
That is a pretty piece of embroidery! I've never stitched with 6 strands all at once, but looks like it gives you lots of texture! I love your bundle of fabric, too - that will be fun to play with.
Your embroidery looks marvelous, and you did a great job with your photography. Those flowers really enhanced the piece.
I love your stitchery, so nice for end of summer.
Gorgeous stitching, it is stunning. I love the dimensional nature of it! Your FQ's are lovely!
Your embroidery is beautiful. It almost looks like a tapestry. Those fabrics are really beautiful.
The Crewel piece is lovely! Just the perfect decoration right now.
Love the texture of your stitch out! It is so fall!! Beautiful work, as always! Those fabrics are great for fall as well! Have fun with them! And have a fun and safe boating with the kids!
Hi Denise, your embroidered flowers are beauties. I'm glad you mentioned the 6 strands...I think the most I've used is 3 so kudos to you for keeping them so nice and even. You are a good stitcher! Arbetorium is gorgeous. Will love seeing what you make with those fabrics. Enjoy the boat ride.
What a beautiful piece of art you made! Love the fat qtr bundle!
Your "slow stitched" piece is lovely. May not be your usual stitches, but the effect is lovely.
Oh, that fabric bundle is so "you"!!
I have never had the urge to stitch up some hexie-like things. LOL But those shapes do make cute hearts.
Do those local wildlife creatures have any idea whose pumpkins the destroyed?!? You are the crazy pumpkin lady, after all! :)
Your stitches are perfect! What a gorgeous project. Oh poor pumpkin. I had 14 pumpkins. Now I'm down to five. Mine are still green here in Ohio (I planted them pretty late.) Can't wait to see what you do with the fun stack of fabrics. The hearts are super cute. Hope you had fun on the lake. It was a fun weekend that ended with thunderstorms on Monday.
Love the embroidery! It's perfect for autumn. Hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend and everyone had a good time out on the lake.
