Hey hey! Just checking in before we head into the weekend. We enjoyed a lovely, beautiful day on the lake on Monday. The weather couldn't have been more cooperative. We're at that time of the year where sometimes the water, at 85 degrees, is warmer than the air temp!
That means we spend LOTS of time in the water (because it's too cold to come out)! The girls had a blast splashing and swimming. Edith even decided it was her day to jump off the boat into the water, multiple times. She was a champ! But we were all *in* the water already, so no photos of that!
As my Jocey said, it was the perfect way to squeeze one more day out of summer . . .
My signature "sun setting, heading home" photo. ;)
Now my thoughts are turning to things of fall. Like pumpkins. All the pumpkins. On Sutton Place had this cute idea for a craft pumpkin on her blog today . . .
Isn't that sweet??!! Let me be clear, this is *her* picture, not mine. You can bet that I'll have one next week, though!! She also had a link to a collection of her pumpkin recipes (Pumpkin Perfection Desserts) you can get. Do you recall the scene in Forest Gump, where Bubba is talking about the "fruit of the sea"—shrimp—and all the things you can do with it? That is *exactly* how I feel about pumpkin. Pumpkin scones, pumpkin custard, pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread, pumpkin coffee cake, pumpkin doughnuts, spiced pumpkin cookies . . . you get my drift! PLUS you can decorate with them and quilt them and craft with them!
Pumpkins > Shrimp
Just sayin.
I did get some diamond EPP pieces whipped up . . .
I did six, satisfied the itch, and moved my attention to the Lucy blocks I got with my estate sale purchase several weeks ago. There were seven or eight POTC blocks in several stages, but this one captured my attention because it was blue. And sparkly.
And all the possibilities! I think my favorite is the one of the top right. You?
Today we celebrate six fabulous years with this precious little girl . . .
Evey Jade is the birthday girl! We're doing a family party tonight and looking forward to it. This girl is fearless and bright and bubbly and spicy. We love her so much!
We also celebrate my folks' 60th—SIXTIETH—anniversary!! Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!
And though I'm getting ready to immerse myself in fall, I'm going to leave you with this thought:
Baahahahaaa!
:)

Nothing like a wonderful holiday to rejuvenate and bring the family together. Good for you. I TOTALLY love the lace on the pumpkin idea. If I crochet I would make one. Lovely blocks - they will be even lovelier as they are completed; something to look forward to.
Evey is growing into a beauty! Upper right Lucu Boston gets my vote, too! Sorry I don't share your enthusiasm for pumpkin ...
Lovely post from start to finish. What a final summer day! Perfect. And now into pumpkins with the thought that yes, Christmas not far behind. Beautiful photo of your parents...how delighted your mom looks! And the sweet 6 year old too. I've remembered that Forrest Gump scene because he mentions in the very long list of shrimp dishes, gumbo which we did not know about growing up. New to me at the time.
I passed a service station sign that said:
"We now have pumpkin spice antifreeze"
Someone gets it! Thanks for the inspiring post.
Wow, I want to be out there in that water with you!
I think you may have missed a few things you can do with pumpkin--not sure what, but there must be something you left out.
The blue, sparkly blocks are gorgeous. A favorite? Seriously?!?
A very cute birthday girl, and a happy, young (oblivious) couple. Congrats to them all!
You have to bring up the countdown, huh? It CAN'T be that close to Christmas. Isn't it still March? What happened to the year? Oh, yeah--COVID happened. Can we have a do over?
It sounds like a wonderful end to summer. Yay for the bravery of the new jumper! Happy birthday to Evey and happy anniversary to your parents. Those blue blocks are really pretty.
What wonderful family moments!! I have to say, though, that I MUCH prefer the shrimp to anything pumpkin, well except maybe pumpkin bread! I do like it. As long as there are nuts in it!! Looking forward to your pumpkin arrangement. That is really cute. I have some of my grandmother's pineapple doilies, but wouldn't want to make a hole in them. Hmmm, might have to get out the ole crochet needle and see if I *can* make one! LOL
That water sure is inviting!! What fun.
Your blocks are wonderful.
Congradulations to your parents for there 60th. wedding anniversary. Also your birthday girl ❤❤! We will have our 57th anniversary on the 26th of September.
Stay safe and have a great weekend!
Hug's, Carolyn
Looks like a great day at the lake. Evey can't be six! Wow, time really does move along doesn't it. Hope she had a great birthday. My Guy was taking about making some pumpkin something last week. It's not my thing, but if he bakes it I'll eat it. Hope you had a great weekend.
