design wool . . .

Before I get to talking about my design wall (or wool, as the case may be), don't forget that there's a fun, fall giveaway going on in them thar' hills . . . and you might want to wander over and take advantage of it! Click on the photo to hyper-jump to the correct page -- just make sure you come back here, afterwards!

Okay, so now that we've gotten all the fun fall-ish giveaway mess out of the way, let's talk about how the best laid plans of mice and men, oft go awry . . .

That's what happened to my plans of getting lots of hand work prepared and ready to work with while I was convalescing and unable to use my sewing machine. *sigh* So what I realized yesterday was that I was sitting, foot propped up to keep my toes above my nose (which, let me assure you, is not a very ladylike position), without any quilting to work on. Boo!

But my dismay was short-lived, because I had a flash of *memory/inspiration*! Remember when I went through the extraordinary lengths to get my sewing room and stash in order? Well when I did, I stumbled across a bag full of cute wool felt kit projects that I'd gotten from Hooked on Quilting (a favorite LQS) ages ago.

Really, I think there are at least seven different projects here ... maybe more.

Most all of them are cute little snowmen projects.

Ah, except this one below, which was a reindeer tea towel.

So I think I've decided to pull out this little mitten project and play around in wool, for a while. Wool . . . wall . . . it's all close enough, right?!

At least until I'm comfortable sewing with my left foot!

I know there's lots of wonderful works in progress out there -- take some time to visit Judy Laquidara's Patchwork Times to see what others are working on!

:)

Have been sewing left footed for years. It's supposed to be better ergonomically to use your right foot. Love the snowmen!

Very cute projects! Isn't it so nice when the organization works in your favor instead of hiding things deeper!

The wool projects are really cute! I love doing those wool applique - no edges to turn under.

Hope your foot gets better fast!

Totally unfair that you had to miss your guild show and can't sew either!! At least you have some hand work. I've gotta get busy and rustle up something new myself. Hope you are all better soon.

I started sewing with my left foot when I wanted to use the knee lift. After a short time it has become my preferred way to sew, of course not with my toes above my nose. Hope you can get back to your machine soon.

Fun projects to keep your hands busy while having to rest. And you'll have something to show for it, rather than just watching TV! Hope you're up and at it, soon.

I don't think I could sew with my left foot. I'm glad you found some handwork to keep busy with while you're recovering.

At least this way you should have some of these cute Christmas projects done in time for the season! I hope your foot is all better very soon and you're able to resume working with your machine.
